African Virtual Learning Center in Science
The African Virtual Learning Centre in Science is a project of UNESCO Regional Bureau of Science, which is being implemented through the African Network of Scientific and Technological Institutions (ANSTI). The website has been established at the request of several of the participants in our training workshops on e-content development, for lecturers in the basic and engineering sciences. Over the last two years, UNESCO/ANSTI has trained over one hundred people using both distance learning (through CD ROMS) and actual training workshops. These graduates have gone ahead and used their newly acquired skills, to prepare several e-contents for various courses in basic and engineering science.
This website has been established to publish their work. Specifically, the objectives of this website are:
• To provide African universities undergraduate students, with an opportunity for self-teaching, in various subject disciplines in Science and Engineering. Courses offered at this site are only supplementary to whatever the student receives in class.
• To serve as a forum to share e-contents among all academic staff of ANSTI member institutions.
• Disseminate information on activities in e-content development in science and engineering courses.
